Who Hosts the Bridal Shower?
In today's day - there are no hard and fast rules as to who hosts the party,
but typically the maid of honor would have the responsibility of throwing a
bridal shower.
The maid of honor generally hosts the bridal shower unless she is a member of
the bride's family. Etiquette guides tend to frown on a family member hosting
the bridal shower because it may look unseemly for the family to try to get
gifts for the bride. Often, however, the mother or sisters of the bride will
still be involved in the shower as invited guests. Other etiquette guides note
that in today’s world a relative may be the only appropriate host in some
circumstances.
The host generally picks up all the costs of a casual or informal shower held at
her home or the home of a bridesmaid. For an elaborate shower, the host might
ask the bridesmaids or guests to help split the costs. This should be done
during the planning stages of the shower so that everyone knows what to expect.
The host should also be clear on asking for help with setup, decorations,
transportation, and any other details that need to be taken care of.
